THE LONG TAIL Interesting book on “niche markets” BLINK Not as good as The Tipping Point, but interesting in how to trust your instincts in making decisions. THE SUCCESS PRINCIPLES Easy-to-read small sections with straightforward advice about success principles in life & business. I love this book. THE E-MYTH REVISITED An absolute necessity to read before starting a business WHAT THEY DON’T TEACH YOU AT HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL Excellent book written in 1986, but the principles still apply. A “horse-sense” book about business. ONE SMART COOKIE How Debbi Fields started Mrs. Fields Cookies. Emphasis on quality, service & responsibility. AN EYE FOR WINNERS A good book by Lillian Vernon about “reinvesting” in your business and maintaining control of it. WAITING FOR YOUR CAT TO BARK? Interesting book on interactive marketing. ALL BUSINESS IS SHOW BUSINESS Very interesting book, especially for Entertainment Entrepreneurs about an emotional link with your clients. THE ULTIMATE ENTREPRENEUR Slightly out of date, but has some great business principles from the story of the Digital Equipment Corporation DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR? A wonderful book about Marge Rivingston’s fascinating journey through show business & a wonderful vocal exercise CD and guide from one of the best vocal coaches around! THE GREAT PIANISTS Only goes up through 1987, but an interesting look at personalities & technical peculiarities of the well-known as well as lesser-known pianists. MUSIC, MONEY AND SUCCESS This book tells you how the music business works in terms that are easy to understand. An important guide. |

MY FIRST 79 YEARS A very inspirational book by Isaac Stern for any type of artist. THE PIANIST Extrodinary true story of one man’s survival in Warsaw 1939-45. Better than the movie. LINCOLN Very inspiring book about one of our nations great leaders. I loved it. TOMORROW TO BE BRAVE Susan Travers was the only woman to ever serve officially in the French Foreign Legion. Very inspiring. THEY CAN KILL YOU-BUT THEY CAN’T EAT YOU Very good book for women in the entertainment business to read. Dawn was the first woman to run a motion picture studio in 1987. ELEANOR ROOSEVELT Even though I don’t agree with some of Eleanor’s politics, she has some really good things to say about women in politics that apply to most any business situation. AARON SPELLING I gained a couple nuggets from this book. Not at the top of my list, but interesting the same. O’KEEFE, THE LIFE OF AN AMERICAN LEGEND A great book on how O’Keefe called up forces from “within” to appear on paper or canvas. MY LOSING SEASON Great book about how suffering can be transformed to be a source of strength & inspiration. GIRL SINGER The delightful autobiography of the 1950’s pop sweetheart, Rosemary Clooney. LANDING IT: MY LIFE ON AND OFF THE ICE Good book about the importance of muscle memory in performance LEARNING TO FALL Very inspiring and sobering book from a man who had Lou Gehirig’s disease and was given 5 years to live. THE FOUNTAINHEAD I enjoyed this book enough to read it twice. Promotes individuality and self-worth. ATLAS SHRUGGED Wow. This book makes you think. It’s philosophical, but a very interesting novel. Couldn’t put it down. LEONARD BERNSTEIN Fascinating biography about this extremely talented composer and conductor. I read it twice and will read it again! CHRISTY A classic I read over and over growing up. GONE WITH THE WIND I loved reading the book. So many more details than the movie. But I loved the movie too! TEXAS I know it’s historical fiction, but I wasn’t a huge history buff growing up and this is a fun way to put some of the events in perspective. |
